    Flat Spot suggestions

Thanks all! Pleased to say that my brother-in-law, P Garrod Auto Repairs, has worked his magic on the carbs and we are away again!! He was apprenticed to a main BL Dealer back in the day, so really knows his stuff when it comes to the old days. There is some evidence of wear, so a refurb may lie...

Soon to be looking for a P6 newby, dumb questions alert :)

Simon, We fitted a Lumenition Performance E-Ignition last year from Rimmer Bros to my series 2 P6B, and it has been faultless thus far. I would say it is mid to upper price bracket of the options available, but I am happy with the choice. Best of luck!!

    Flat Spot suggestions

Since fitting Lumention ignition last year, V8 sweetness and light has reigned until returning from the Clacton Show in May, when an increasing flat spot has developed from stationery. Really long (and dangerous) pause before normal service resumed, but still pulling strongly through the rev...

    Conversion to Electronic Ignition

Thanks to all - helpful, as always! Lumenition now fitted (inc. coil) as supplied by Rimmer Bros and, so far, excellent results, with beautifully smooth V8 running resteord. Not the cheapest nor the most expensive, and, hopefully, "fit and forget".

    Conversion to Electronic Ignition

After a second complete ignition failure in 15 months – and consequent recovery and so on – I have decided to convert to fully electronic ignition. My car is a 1973 (May)P6B V8 Auto I know that there are a number of options, so can someone point me in the direction of the most used? Also, where...

    Petrol Reserve Release

Thanks, Colin - makes sense as it is very dry! Should it be pulled from the lever at the petrol tank end, then?

    Petrol Reserve Release

Whilst trying to fix another issue (!!), pulled out the Reserve Knob and now it wont retract. Does anyone know where it is likely to be stuck? Many thanks.

    Outdoor Car Cover

My P6B is usually safely locked away in my dry garage; I need, however, to leave outside for a week or so. Does anyone have experience of a good quality. outdoor cover for the car? Thanks.

    thermostat stuck open?

I have a similar issue just arisen and would be grateful for views. My temperature gauge (V8, 1973) has always rested between the white and the green - never rising above; I, however, thought this was normal. Recently, on starting from cold, the gauge has started rising rapidly to three quarters...

No, we are only doing local shows, so North Essex, South Suffolk. Might do a national P6 day, though; enjoyed Rufford Park last year (ROC) - good day out all round, even though we had no car then!

You mean the towbar? Fitted to the car when new, with a warning light built into the dashboard, so I am going to retain this feature. You are right about the panel colours - they are different in changing light - and, to be fair - they do not match exactly!!

Just joined and wanted to share a couple of pictures of our 1973 Almond 3500. He has done 121,000 miles and is pretty much unrestored, having been with one owner (the second) since 1981. We acquired in late October and have continued dry only use, but have still managed a run down to Manningtree...
