    Commission/Chassis Numbers

Hi Colin, this is not an early car - base unit number BA 067428. The plate screwed onto the inner wing is a very crude home made job (emphasis on CRUDE, complete with a mistake that was corrected!) and I can find no evidence of numbers stamped on the body in the usual places. As I said above...

    Commission/Chassis Numbers

Thanks - I have the base unit number posted above. What I would like is the actual chassis number from that if it's possible to obtain - maybe someone who has access to Rover build records. Could someone also show me exactly where the number is on the decker panel? I'm not sure I understand...

    Commission/Chassis Numbers

Is it possible to obtain a chassis number from the body number I have for my car. The problem is that the only chassis number I can find is a home made plate screwed onto the n/s inner wing; a very amateurish job. I've read they are supposed to be stamped onto both front inner wings and also...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Thanks Andries - this is a RHD car and the main wiring loom goes through the bulkhead behind the glove box, next to the fuse box.

    3500 VIP Wiring

Maybe I'm being a little too fussy but which way does the light green/red wire from the heater box to the a/c compressor route? I assume it comes through the bulkhead from the heater box (or does it?) with the main batch of wires and vacuum tubes and then goes back out into the engine bay on...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Thanks Andries, I have today finally got the pump back from the engineering shop. I purchased a normal pump with the idea of removing the flange from mine and pressing it onto the new pump, however we were unable to do this even with several tons pulling power, so we made up a new flange to...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Can someone confirm if this is right It looks to me as if both solid fan and viscous fan pumps are the same with the exception of the flange that is pressed onto the front. If that is so, then I could buy the normal pump and get my engineering guy to swap the flange over.

    3500 VIP Wiring

I've tried but this pump needs more than nursing. I'm now searching for a hen with teeth - JRW are going on holiday for 2 weeks and the chap I spoke to there this morning had never heard of a VIP and had never seen a P6 with a viscous (it wasn't Jonathan - I expect he will know). They can send...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Thanks Roly - I'm not on fb although I opened a profile and never used it. Let me have the link but do I need to be a P6 club member to see them? - Something I plan to do soon although I was a member many years ago but let it lapse as I have joined far too many clubs! I'll have a look at what...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Thanks Roly, I'd appreciate that. Actually, the air con wiring and vacuum connections are in the car handbook that I have with the car, although very tatty. My wiring is a mess - someone's cut many of the wires to the centre console and rejoined them all with scotch locks - Why?!? Some of the...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Ah, thank you! I must have gone cross-eyed trying to find it!

    3500 VIP Wiring

I have the Haynes manual that doesn't specifically show the NADA wiring. This fuel pump is under the car in the rear suspension area (is that what you meant by under the back seat?) Yes I know it has to be wired through the ignition, but in the interest of originality, where did Rover take...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Hi Folks - as you may have guessed I bought the recent VIP that was on eBay. There are a few wiring issues with things that have been cut in the past and joined together unprofessionally so I will be looking to restore everything to original. One of these items is the wiring to the electric...

    VIP not advertised as such

Yes but does anyone know of its whereabouts now? Is it sitting languishing in a barn or field somewhere? I guess it will be too far gone to even think about doing anything with it.

    VIP not advertised as such

Hi Pilkie, reading the listing I don't think he's had the car running and that's why he can't MOT it. I would prefer he doesn't try as these V8 oil pumps often need priming if left standing for a long time and unless he knows how to do it he could end up destroying the engine.

    VIP not advertised as such

Thanks Colin, I am particularly interested as it is a VIP due to its rarity. I've had various P6s over the years, my favourite being a 2200TC that I owned when it was about 4 years old - wish I'd never sold it (PBL789R - does anyone know if it still exists?). Coming back to this one I plan to...

    VIP not advertised as such

Thanks Roly, fair point - unfortunately I live too far away from it to make a viewing practical, the auction is nearly over and I feel the price peaked very early and remained there since - so I'm in a bit of a quandry!?!

    VIP not advertised as such

Hi folks, has anyone actually seen this ebay car? - Has the seller given a fair description of it?
