    Storage headaches

Ooh, that is a sickener. :-( Had a similar thing happen about 15 years ago to a lovely 'S' I owned, I parked it for about a month in a friends asbestos roofed garage, to get it out of the way for a bit. When I went to remove it, the car was absolutely smothered in condensation, the brakes were...

    3500 VIP Wiring

Try & nurse the water pump back to health if you can & whatever you do, don't bin it! They're like hens teeth.

    Federal/NADA 3500S air canister question

As you're stood facing the engine, the left hand one goes to the crankcase breather & the right hand one goes to the charcoal canister that sits next to the coil.

    3500 VIP Wiring

Alex, are you on the P6 club on facebook? I only ask, as I find it a lot easier to load pictures on fb. Ok, the air-con loom comes through the bulkhead in one big lump, with the vacuum pipes. All the connections from that loom to the 6RA relay that is fixed to the centre console, are as per the...

    3500 VIP Wiring

You won't find the air-con wiring diagram for any post 1973 cars in any manual that I've come across. Cars prior to that, had pick up points in the main harness for air con & some body harnesses had a white, ignition controlled wire in them for the fuel pump, but post 73 cars didn't. I have 2...

    VIP not advertised as such

The fact that it's back on ebay should give you a clue & no, I haven't seen it, but I've heard enough to know. Have a look & satisfy yourself as to how much you're willing to pay.

    Chrome wiper blades

Original fitment were Trico 14" blades.

    VIP not advertised as such

Yep, was thinking along the same lines. Sighting unseen, I'd say it's a £3k car at the most. Fed up with seeing this 'one of only 5 remaining' type stuff as well. Says who?

    VIP not advertised as such

Has anybody else noticed, that it's back on again? Still listed as being in Bovey Tracy, but now up for £5250. What's occurring, I wonder?!

    VIP not advertised as such

It's lost it's condenser as well. Still, an interesting car for not a lot of money, unless it's as rotten as a pear of course. If I hadn't been mucking about in the garden this afternoon, I'd have bought it myself!

Tyre Replacement - How old are yours?

Been running on Vredesteins for 2 years now on my Nada & yep, they seem to cope well with all weathers & they look really good too. Although, nothing will ever compare to the original Pirelli Cinturatos I had on a 3500S back in 1990, completely smooth & silent.

    vacuum advance with electronic ignition

As Jim says, with the Pertronix set up, the dwell adjustment is wound right in, the vacuum advance is still in operation.

Yup, binned off my filler tube & sight glass for that very reason & replaced with a standard sump, dipstick & tube.

    new loom

Just remembered, the wiring for the rev counter is different between early & late series 2 V8's, the change possibly coinciding with the change of alternators. Oh & the loom from a suffix 'A' 3500 auto is no use at all.

    new loom

The only major difference on 3500S looms, is whether they have an 11ACR or 18ACR alternator. 3500 auto looms are the same, you need to match the model year ideally.

    new loom

If you're replacing the dash harness, make sure you have the right one for your car, there are quite a few variations. With regards removing & replacing, it's not a bad job if you're methodical. Remove the instrument cluster, glove boxes & centre console, that should be enough stuff removed to...

Does Anybody Really Pay These Prices?

Nothing wrong with 2nd hand parts & yep, we all like to have a result & bag a bargain, but I think owners should be realistic in their expectations of parts availability & pricing.

Does Anybody Really Pay These Prices?

I can only come to the conclusion that those who want parts at bargain prices, for a car that's been out of production for nearly 40 years, are going to be provided by some sort of charity? Those who know me, will also know my background & I've seen & heard it all before & I can tell you just...

    A NADA Heater Story

You're lucky the Ranco valve has lasted as long as it has! You can get a modern replacement from Jensen parts dealers, as the Interceptor air-con set up uses virtually all the same components. The only difference is that the replacement ones don't have the capillary connection, or the bracket...

    tasty VIP on carandclassic

It would appear to be the vip that sold on ebay back in november for £6300. In the pictures on the ebay listing, it certainly had crusty door bottoms, so would guess that they've been attended to, well, you'd hope so! Roly.

    Manifold vacuum lines

On the Nada's, the distributor vacuum connection is made via the three way banjo, there's no vacuum connection on the l/h carb, as on a standard car.
