Thank you very much for your replies. @mikecoombs : Thanls for your reply, cristal clear, in fact I quite like the idea of sourcing a manual closest a possible to the year of the car too and I did spot a couple of these on internet in the meantime. Searching catalog instead of manual did help...

Parts catalog for SC 2000 MY1964

Good day to all, I am willing to purchase a parts manual that applies to my early LHD 1964 model, either paper or pdf. All I can find on Internet is a 1977 publication "ROVER 2000 Illustrated Car Parts List Sep 1974 #RTC9021" Can someone help me by confirming which edition is suitable please? I...

    Breaking up 1965 2000 SC

Hello, It's been a long time since visiting the forum... I am now motivated again to put my Serie 1 from Aug 1964 on the road. One item I need to source, may be you have?, is the solenoid for the starter motor. I know Christmas was yesterday, still... trying my luck! Thanks Marc

    1964 French "Sharks Tooth" 2000

I am back! and just started a specific post in the Electrics section. However reading again Dimitris "how to " reply, I realize I yet have to check is there is power reaching the solenoid with the test lamp before calling it a late solenoid

    Solenoid to Starter motor

Hi, It's been a long long time since I last posted on this great forum. Due to lock down and the shark's tooth being garaged too far away from home, 2020 has been year of no progress. Still, motivation is here and I encountered last weekend the following problem : With a new battery in place and...

    1964 French "Sharks Tooth" 2000

This coming saturday, I will try again starting the engine...(Now I have a workshop manual, it helps:)) Just wanted to check the approach : Since it did not start at the turn of the key, I plan to connect the battery with jump leads directly on to the starter motor to bypass the solenoid. (HT...

The horn on this car delivers only the discreet sound whatever the switch position. I will change this with one like this from a Citroën DS to Demetris point!

    1964 French "Sharks Tooth" 2000

Good idea, thanks! Just to be clear on the polarity question : neither solenoid nor starter motor are polarized, right? In other words, If I get it wrong on polarity, this would not prevent starting the engine ("only" the dynamo may not like it as I understand it)

Hello Demetris. Yes that's what I'll do, but I need someone with me for this which I did not have yesterday :( I was actually thinking of testing power on the starter motor contacts, but starting with the solenoid is best.

    1964 French "Sharks Tooth" 2000

Hello, some news in the new year : 1. steering box and ball joints : managed to split the ball joints at both ends but the other one is definitely not accessible with the fork model (mr task is right!!). I wonder if there is chance to get away with this ball joint by unscrewing the linkage next...

Not yet removed alas.... I wonder if I have to remove this main nut on the box in place to ease the removal from the ball joints

    1964 French "Sharks Tooth" 2000

I definitely need to procure a workshop manual and a parts manual.... I see most manuals for sale on internet are for 66 and later. Is it worth it or should I absolutely strive for "early models" manuals?

Steering box unbolted Then the ball joints are stuck Replacement Box ready but first remove the one in place… Found this loose in the engine compartment beneath the Steeering Box, I suppose it’s a forgotten fixing bracket of some kind, looks like an adjustment screw, any ideas ?

Yesterday was a mishap : Travelled all the way from home to my garage where the P6 is sheltered with a key target in mind for the day : start that engine... First I was able to ascertain the polarity thanks to all good comments received here. So it is wired as negative earth with CB contact on...
