1967 2000 TC for sale - NOW SOLD

Hi all

It's finally time to sell my 1967 2000 TC. I've had the car for nearly three years, but since buying a 3500S last year, I do not have the garage space and want it to go to someone who can care for it.

The car is SORNed and does not currently have a MOT (it expired last August) and it will probably need the rear brakes doing for the next one (the handbrake is at the end of travel) as it only scraped through in the last one.

The car had an extensive (£10,000!) restoration in 2000 in which the bodywork, electrics, interior and engine were done. I have some receipts listing the work and all the parts replaced. I also have MOTs back to 1974 with some gaps (it had a private plate and appeared to have stayed with the same owner until 2005). The car now has a mileage reading of 42050 - checking back over the MOTs, I guess it had a replacement speedo in the 1990s or gone round the clock (96000 in 1991).

The base unit is very good (I got chance to see it on a ramp before buying and the MOT also tester commented favourably on it). The gearbox and back axle are also very good. The engine runs Ok (it took me to the Scottish All Rover Rally last year), but I think it needs the valve clearances and/or carbs adjusted properly as it doesn't idle well below 1000 rpm.

I had the (rare) radiator recored locally in 2011 as Wins and Wadhams couldn't find me one of the same sort (header tank on offside). It has the oil cooler in the bottom of the radiator which was done at the same time. That all cost £300!

The paintwork is OK, but the roof has some microblisters (due I think to spending this winter under a cover outside). The front passenger door is very poor on the base and lower skin but I have replacement parts from Wins. The rear passenger door also has a scab in the corner.

The interior has been recoloured to the correct Sandalwood and is bright but an amateur job (by me). The seats are intact with the execption of a repair on the passenger squab.

The fuel gauge registers full - by checking the wiring I think it is the sender. I have a replacement bought on e-bay which will be included in the sale.

So, in summary a sound car that needs some work on the back brakes, and maybe engine tuning.

The car is in West Lothian (close to M8 and M9) and does not have an MOT so will need trailering or an MOT arranged.

Offers around £750.

Sorry - I don't seem to be able upload pictures as Board Attachment Quota has been reached (can anyone fix this?). Otherwise I can send them by e-mail to anyone interested.

Thanks

Simon

You can use a host site such as photobucket for your photo's. It's the best way anyway I think. You'll definitely have a better chance of a result with some pictures up.

Such as above.

Re: 1967 2000 TC for sale

It looks like a fantastic car for the money, Simon. A friend of mine has been hinting that he may be interested in a P6, so I'll try to persuade him to get in touch with you.

Re: 1967 2000 TC for sale

Actually chewing my hand off not to make you an offer on that...!

Especially given that I used to own a small part of it anyway.... those seats used to be in the redrover before I got my current Buckskin set.

Aarrghh.... That could completely have scuppered the "I'll buy a MacBook Pro" plan..... :?

Re: 1967 2000 TC for sale - STILL FOR SALE

Hi All

Due to illness (see The lLounge Forum), the buyer of my 2000TC has had to pull out (which I quite understand).

So the car is back For Sale again at the same price - £750 ovno.

See pictures and details above ^^^^^^

Re: 1967 2000 TC for sale - STILL FOR SALE

Hi all

Although there seemed to be a lot of interest here, there were no firm offers apart from Ian's which fell through (see above). I did get quite a low offer from outside the forum which I have provisionally accepted because the buyer is a Rover fan and already has a 2000TC.

I will keep the forum updated to say if it's actually sold or not (ie if the buyer does complete)

Regards

Simon

Hi all

Well I was sad to see it go but at least it went to a Rover enthusiast. The chap's friend driving the low loader was the son of the owner of the old Rover dealer in Cowcaddens Glasgow, so grew up with Rovers and has 2 P6s. So I'm confident it will be loved and useful!

Now to spend the money on improving my 3500s!
