1973 3500 Fuel pipe/Brake shims

Dear All
I am after two items, if anyone has them lying around spare. Guinness vouchers to an appropriate amount will be handed over in exchange.
1. Front brake shims for a 1973 V8 - I've got some but not a full set.
2. This one is more difficult. I need the fuel pipe fitting described in the Autobooks Owner's Workshop Manual as 'Fuel pipe complete, reserve, tank to reserve tap'.
My name is already on one of these, but I'm hedging my bets in case it is as bad as the one I took off my car.
I have attached photographs of the part I'm after and where it goes.
Regards
Elfyn

Hi, we're still on the look out for the fuel pipe pieces, mainly the uhion from the bottom of the tank for a V8, as per pics above,

thanks

I wanted to get the fuel lines routed back through the reserve tap on my Rover 2000 TC. Pieces were missing, the nuts which screw onto the tap, and the fittings, and there was not much chance I would ever find them. The solution I came up with was to buy a bit of 1/4 inch brake line. I cut it into approximate 2 inch lengths and soldered with flux and silver solder, and a propane torch into the reserve tap. I then used new rubber 1/4 inch fuel line over the installed brake line, and some hose clamps to replace all my fuel lines and got the reserve tap back into operation. I think this might be a solution for you to consider, but take out the sender and dry out the fuel before soldering. Have a look at the condition of the inside of the tank also. Mine was so full of rust I had it cleaned and coated.

As for the brake shims do they look like this:

If they are then these are for a 65 Volvo 1800, which used the same brake pad as the Rover 3500 according to the rockauto database. You can order from the rockauto website if the look like they might work.

Thanks for your reply and your suggested solution to my fuel line problem.

I asked at the local Technical College about the fuel line and it was suggested that as the fittings are BSP I should try a local hydraulic fittings company and have one made up. I will post the solution here - if I ever find one!

I located the brake shims at Classeparts, their email addres is: beechgroveeng@tiscali.co.uk. They are also on ebay at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/CLASSEPARTS-LTD. They have manufactured a range of parts for various cars, including P6.
