Not my cup of tea, but my mum has just bought a new one, so I get the job of getting rid of her old one.

Hopefully this could be a decent cheap run about for somebody.

Tax to end of November, MOT until 21st Feb

"RT" model, has airconn which I believe works.
91k miles, interior in very good condition, exterior pretty good too, couple of scratches, only really let down by a scrape on the passenger sill which has been cleaned up and sprayed to prevent rust (in pic).

4 decent tyres, runs and drives lovely, only driving issue is the speedo stops reading after a few minutes driving, I'm going to try and pickup another speedo sensor in the next few days, hopefully that will fix it.

Looking for about £250, just need to get rid of it really.

PM me if interested.

Sorry to dig this back up, but had to comment, no, nobody was remotely interested, so it went to scrap, I got £100 and a good battery

Real shame as it was a good car, I find it really frustrating throwing away perfectly good stuff, had a few things recently that I couldn't even give away, even though they were perfectly serviceable.

A 12 year old car gets scrapped for no other reason than nobody wants it because it
is 'an old car'. At 12 years old!!! It is easier for someone to go and buy a new car and
the dealership doesn't really want it because it has no value. I know all cars go through
there 'banger' stage when stocks get reduced but there was always someone that would
want to run them, but not so much nowadays. A 5 or 6 year old car is now only a few
hundred quid. Which begs the question what will people do for classic motoring in 15,20
years time.

It's fashion! And as fashion & electronics take over from good engineering, solid & servicable cars are worthless. I don't think classic motoring or the classic scene will last, at least in it's present form. Our cars & earlier examples may survive because they are so different from what is probably coming, but they will be seen more as museum pieces as the powers that be gradually prohibit them from the roads.
If you really want to drive them, sell your euroboxes & use them daily, now, as they were designed for. They can do it, they always could. I do, though that doesn't mean I won't moan & bitch about it when I can't, but I'll be able to say that I did while I could.

That soapbox is under my feet now, where did I get it from?

We are wasting so many resources by scrapping stuff that still have plenty of life, that we can't get away with it anymore.
One day we will be punished for this.

There is one ancient Greek word that spings to my mind: "Hyvris". There is no exact translation, but it sort of describes a human behavior that was a severe insult to nature and Gods.

It always seems a waste to scrap a perfectly serviceable car. My parents have been thinking about trading in my mum's A-class for a current one for a few months. The current one has fsh, with only Merc parts used, every receipt, and it's in excellent condition, but because it's an A-class with nearly 100k miles, 52 plate, it's not worth a great deal. The biggest issue is that for a car of its size it's very thirsty, so my parents have decided to keep it, and convert it to LPG this year, thus meaning that it will stay until it causes serious problems, or my parents really think it needs changed for another car. I can't understand why some people don't want higher mileage/older cars.

Hi im a big fan of older cars i drive a micra, its 13 years old as has they say" does everything it says on the tin" i paid £400 for it 2 years ago fsh from new and ive covered 25000 miles in it , without any problems (saying that it will pack up now lol). anyone can throw money away dont see the big deal with new cars unless its for tax reasons.
regards
marcus :D

What a waste .If it had been nearer I'd have had it as a spare car
The early Lagunas were good, better than the post 2001 type which was one of the most unreliable cars made
