2000/2.200 rebuild

I know you will think me mad but opinion is sort from yourselves. A couple of years ago I bought a 2000 TC engine complete that had been totally rebuilt, but the owner sadly died. I have been regularly turning the engine as it had fresh oil and filter. But now I am thinking about getting a 2,2 SC head and stripping the existing engine and re- borring the block out to a Standard 2.2.
The reasons for this are I am planning to replace the mains and big ends on my existing 2.2 that's in use this coming winter, as I am in a wheelchair I could rebuild the engine with an engine stand also it would give me something to do during the winter- if I did this I will not have to change from the original HIF 6 Carb or linkage.
SO SHOOT ME DOWN.

If the only thing that needs doing to your current engine is ends and mains then doing that would take less time than swapping the engines over, let alone all the time and money rebuilding the 2 litre into a 2.2. If you want to do that just because you can then why not, but it seems like a load of work for no particular benefit.

Thanks for the comment, I was just concerend whether the engine could be opened out to the 2.2
