2000 estate

Really?
I loved my Hunter. Didn't realise the GLS made it out your way 8)
A friend of mine worked on the development when he was at Holbay :) I miss the 3 wheel drifts (one cocked in the air)
I used mine as a daily back then when not in the MK1 3 litre Capri. They shared the lockup :)

You must have got a wrongun

It did have a flat spot. Friend of mine bought one brand new, complained like hell it wouldn't go. Told him to rev the watsits off it, came back with a big grin on his face!

That's what I did when I still had the big carbs on my TC. Learned to drive in a weaseley-diesel where 2000rpm was most of the way to the red line, so was I was so used to short shifting. But then I took the Rover on a motorway and realised that it turned over at 3500rpm+ at 70 mph and was smoother than at low speed. The TC motor really responds well to being driven by an Italian. So I rebuilt it as a precautionary measure and haven't been back into 4th gear since! Love it!

Yep, Holbay head, cam and twin 40s aren't meant for low revs
In saying that, I lived in North London and never noticed any flat spot but then I worked in a garage and it was running bang on :)
