Anyone got a spare sc manifold they dont want? or even a complete good head would be nice!!
Gonna be at stoneleigh next weekend, can be left at the RP6C stand,or can meet.
Still after a headset as well!

Fitted the replacement downpipe donated by hermione today and its fine, only to confirm that the ticking blow is definately the manifold-head gasket.
It has a history of this happening in the diary book of its last 20k miles,so either they are prone to it or theres a fault on the manifold.

A leaking exhaust value can make a similar noise. Mine was when I went to view her and immediately know that it needed a value doing.

This is true, but the compression is spot on,there is no misfire at all,and I can see and feel the blow point!!
However if I do decide to take the head off at some point,it will have an overhaul whatever state it is in!
Unless I find a suitable replacement to do a straight swap over!

Yes, mine was accompanied with a miss fire at tick over and a small drop in compression.

i am after an sc ex manifold aswell,i think they are prone to warping, mine is blowing on number 3 i have had it off and on 4 times with new gaskets and cant seem to stop the blow,

If it is just warped maybe it poss to have it skimmed back flat??
Will have to check mine when I have it off!!

I'm sure (but may have dreamt it) that one of the work shop manuals say to have the manifold skimmed if it's removed. But saying that I never had mine done. To join the club, I could do with one too. Mine is not leaking but one the of the three bolt holes the down pipe bolts to snapped of a while ago. So I'm scare to touch it in case it starts to blow. So for now I'll put my head in the sand on this one....

Still after a 2000sc manifold,+ head if poss???
Will have to see what turns up at stoneleigh tomorrow!!

hi there Pilkie, Did you get your sc exhaust manifold sorted? If not I may able to help. I have a complete cylinder head from a 1964 series one with the exhaust manifold on. However am quite willing to take it off should you need it.Sincerely. moon rover!

My exhaust manifold had a hole in it about 1 inch in diameter. I had custom headers made. The car is a 2000 automatic and the headers gave it a useful bit of extra power. I think that this is a good way to go, and with the exhaust heat shield you cannot see that modification that much.

James.
