Hi There

The next problem after engine and clutch, breaks are fine, making some noise because
of standing stil longer time and rust.

The gearbox do jump out of the reverse, and have to keep lever in my hands to prevent that,
I think the lever needs to be checked for play, what it has a lot, it fibrates also.

Also make sure that the gearlever isn't being baulked in reverse by carpet rucked up behind it. Then check the acorn on the bottom of the gearlever, wear on the selector striker lever, and the position of the reverse selector stop bolt and reverse lamp switch, all of which can cause the problem. After that it's a box out job to reset the selector and detents.

Thanks

The lever has play, it do resonate also and looks or it will fall of soon.

so i need new busches?

Further the car do drive fantastic, is very quit also, no gear sounds ect pefect suspension
however it steers like I am in a boot on the water.

since replacing gear lever gaiter with after market one i find that due to the thicker rubber on new one i have to hold in reverse without gaiter on there is no problem -positives re new gaiter are that due to it being thicker there is no noise or vibration through lever -so check if yours has after market gaiter i think this is well known issue--andy
