3500 auto with air con

Oh Dear! That's sad news. Perhaps a longer look in calm and daylight tomorrow would be a good idea. It might not be that bad...

On the positive side, you might well recoup your expenditure just from selling the A/C, very desirable. Then the trim and body panels would no doubt enhance your '74, finishing up with a profit from the engine and box. Drat! I'm beginning to think like a breaker!

Hi Chris,
Looked in calm and daylight and its even worse than i expected from the boot area both chassis rails are weetabix it seems to have gotton right inside the box sections and it gone all along the seams of inner wings either side of the boot how this car passed an mot is beyond me  The box sections under rear seats and sills have been welded up many times but are crumbling away its as though the car has been looked after but sea air as gotton to it time and time again which i suppose is understandable living by the coast. It's a real shame that this car should be broken up for spares as apart from interior outer body panels engine and box and a/c it seems economically beyond repair  Therefore i intend to use my better base unit and transfer everything over minus the a/c so if anyone is interested in a complete a/c system for a P6 email me and make me an offer as a/c plus other bits will be advertised on for sale section and eblag soon

I have just been on Rudigers brilliant website and my new purchase appears to be listed as an unknown car there is even a picture of my beastie CBT 126K  I now have alarm bells ringing in my head now does unknown mean its dodgy

On my website "Unknown" means that just I am searching
a.) for car details of the listed P6s
or
b.) would like to know where a listed P6 stays today

Nothing more !

Re: 3500 auto with air con and 74V8 now for sale

Hi All,
An update update having been all over the car i have discovered that it is not only fitted with a/c but also has impact beams fitted to all doors and it also has a factory fitted Bendix elec fuel pump beneath so indeed does have some rare items fitted  I have thought many thoughts over the last few days of what to do and have now decided to sell both my P6s and eventually find a better one when funds allow in near future on another plus side is the rot does not extend into the chassis rails as far as i thought and is dooable if somebody wants to have a go :? So there we are 2xP6bs one being pretty rare mot'd until April tax exempt and fully drivable the sandlewood leather interior is very good and supple with only one small rip drivers seat where the seatbelt rubs against is in corner all the stitching is good with no cracking to top of rear seats. The panels are very good with exception of the rear doors that are going in the corners and front wings are going slightely by the brakets the front doors are very good with minimal rust to bottoms bonnet and boot are also very good lots of tead on ALL tyres. Bad points are rot in boot corner and both inner wings seams and battery box area box sections below seats would probably need doing again at some point as only plated. The other P6b 74 has a very good base unit with only minimal rot to corners of boot shut area the sills are solid and box sections beaneath seats are mint rear link areas in boot have never been welded. It is fitted with a full Webasto sunroof with perspex sunviser all in ver good condition with no cracking to vinyl and has sundym glass if you need anymore info please ask i have pics if you send me your email address. Oh forgot to mention there are lots af reciepts for £100s for work done some work done in 2010 ie re-con rear brake calipers ignition parts etc etc the list goes on if someone wants a rare running tax exempt p6b and a spare car to go with it the first £1200 and they are yours or eblag here they come

Will do Mick :?

All the AC cars had the electric fuel pump as there was no room for the mechanical one. Oddly, it seems that they may have had side impact beams as standard too as mine has them fitted. It should also have Sundym glass. I wonder if they were done in batches? Our cars could be sisters!

They all from the same batch of base units. Hence our interest in the Pressed Steel numbers on them.

All the base units on aircon cars were made in 1969-1971 we think - hence the VIP's were made from at least five year old base units. The VIP's having been built from the remaining base units and air con kit in 1975-1977.
