3500s crunching gears - gearbox/clutch trouble

Against all good advice i recently bought a abodoned project 3500s for £100, got it home got it running ok checked it over seems very solid lots of work done by previous owners, welding sills, new wings etc. Engine runs sweet no overheating oil leaks knocking although exhaust it shot at.
Will it go in to gear ahh nop! without a mighty knashing of gears and clutch depressed to the floor it will just go in if i am lucky. A friend said the clutch may be seizesed but there is a very low to the floor bitting point once it goes in to gear and it will pull away in gear although changing gear is not possible. I have tried bleeding the slave cylinder but it has not made any difference there are no fluid leaks.
Does anyone know of a way of diagnosing if its the clutch that is at fault or if it is a more serious gearbox problem without removing the gearbox ?.

all suggestions welcome

Bleeding the clutch can be tricky .You could have a master cylinder fault . Can you get someone to push the pedal down while you look underneath to see how far the release mechanism moves. If it's not moving far , it's probably a hydraulic fault. If it moves all the way, sounds like a clutch fault, maybe stuck on the splines
Good luck
