3500s on Car and Classic

Add states 1972 but has M 1973/74 reg number :?: :?: :?: :?:

An honest mistake? Or a cynical ploy to sell it on the back of (non existant) tax exempt status?

Well I was due to visit the brown one but the chap has someone looking at it at the weekend so instead of letting me view it, he's gonna let me know if the other chap buys it. Bit tough as I won't be able to get there for two weeks unless I go on Saturday! I don't get it, surely he wants to sell it?!

I've exhausted every possibility now, so I'm carless after Saturday afternoon!

I just really really hope this guy has a change of heart :(

That would be great if I wanted a project from scratch but what I'm after is a rolling project. I need something I can drive as I plan for mine to be on the road while I perform its modifications as an everyday car.

Every car I ring up about has already gone and if they haven't they're stupidly priced. I mean on eBay there's a White wreck for £1400. Really? I suppose they expect you to overlook the £700 a side to have the inner sills replaced!! People really have gone mad with pricing!

That's just the market value.

I keep looking for a Corvette project, but I can't even get a big box of bits for less than £3k :(

That's a little more understandable as it isn't a domestic car. You can pick up a road legal 82 Firebird for about £1500 so I think £1400 for nothing more than a sieve is daylight robbery!

It looks like I may have shot myself in the foot getting rid of my everyday car! I really wanted a reasonable 3500S too. I'll keep looking but running out of places and publications to look in!

I'm not laying more than I paid for my 84 trans am that's for sure!!

Only in bits, still about £5k for a basic roadworthy one. Wouldn't mind a convertible but they obviously command a premium.

I really want a C3 though, very early with chrome bumpers, not a cat in hells chance

I love this one....

Well that different, you're talking about a heritage muscle car with the big block. You'll pay for that! But a mid 80's vette if you look in the right places can be had from £3k to £4500. EBay is a breeding ground for inflated unrealistic prices and has a lot to answer for in that department.

When you're seriously looking for a c3 I'll put the feelers out for you; this is my world ;)

If you find a c4 for £2k it'll be a high mileage or abused model. Believe me I've been in this game for ages and I don't care what practical classics say! The f-body chassis design with the grp shell was amazing, but was also incredibly heavy and they suffered from stress fractures just about everywhere that the average Joe with little knowledge will know are even there.

If you want a c4 and want to be sat in a car rather than a chassis with some shredded grp after a few months, then expect to pay £3750 up.

Just my two cents, but on this subject I know what I'm talking about :D
