Hello Jukka,

What type of fuel injected system are you running on your 3.5 litre engine? What type of manual transmission do you have behind the engine?

Ron.

Jukka, it's a no-brainer – do it! You know you want to. There's no substitute for cubic inches.

Good idea, BUT overhating problems in .6 well documented

A very good point! It is not a problem if running carburettors, but it could well be if running fuel injection. Reason being, the thermostat temperature must be higher otherwise the engine management system won't switch off the fuel enrichement. Depending on the system, 88 degrees would likely be the minimum thermostat to run.

Ron,I have a normal 3.5 Range Rover efi system with hot wire airflow meter and manual box is 5 speed from SD1.

Hello Jukka,

The SD1 5 speed manual will have to contend with something like a 50% increase in torque when running behind a 4.6. The larger engine also consumes 30% more air so I would expect a large number of changes would be required of the fuel injection / air intake system.

Yep,i think i will drive with this set up at least this summer and think later...Wish i get Rover on the road soon..
