These cars are part of deceased gent's collection and need to be disposed of, will be scrap money. There are four in total, all look terminally rotten but may yield good parts.

There are three x 2000's, one x 2200SC. Three in Almond, one in blue.

If you're interested in them please call David Dixon on 01407 730879 or 07507 190536 for more info.

Thanks

Are you sure about that landline number? Google says it's the Anglesey branch of the RSPCA.
As I'm also on Anglesey I'd love to help but have my hands full at the moment. Any idea how quickly they need shifting?

Hi Willy, the numbers given to me are: 01407 730879 or 07507 190536.

No idea of the time frame involved. I'd go an get them if they were nearer home, it's just not practicable.

That interior looks like it could yield a hearty crop. Seat belts and switchgear not least.

Eternal rest, Grant unto them O Mechanic ......

I've dropped him an email to see if can find out more. I haven't got the space to store anything big like an interior, but do have a Land Rover and trailer so could possibly take one car, strip a few bits then weigh the remains in.

why are the cars always so far away, i would have had them for parts
marcus :(

Ditto! Although not so much for the parts. It's a decent interior i need, I've been looking for one for ages but they're always so flipping far away!

Will.

The guy's mailed me tonight saying the scrapman's offered him £150 a car, so if anyone's going to make a move for these they'll need to get in contact quickly.

Thanks
Nick

I've just emailed the fella to say I'm interested in an interior. It could be worth hiring a van and taking a drive down if he doesn't want much for one :D

OK I've just spoken to him (sounds a nice chap), I'll go and collect one tomorrow afternoon. Apparently one's a 2200TC, so that'll be my first choice. I'll report back afterwards of course.

Nick, thanks for passing on the news of these. If anyone else is trying to get hold of the seller, the 01407 number is not correct.
He explained that he won't sell bits of the cars, doesn't want anyone messing about, they have to go complete. And the scrap man's waiting, so they'll probably all be gone by next week. But he's a nice chap and prefers to see them going to people like us who'll use some of the parts. He could have let the scrapman take them all yesterday, but prefered to give us all a chance first - so hats off to him for that.

I've just collected the 2.2TC and agreed to take the blue car in a couple of days once I've finished with this one.
Bodywise, this TC was probably the worst. No useable body panels. Interior is box pleat leather, some of which is good, but there are a few mouse holes in prominent places. Indicated mileage is 48000, almost certainly genuine as the tax disc says 1981 and it's an N reg car. Engine appears to be seized. I'll remove it with the gearbox and attempt to free it up.
Boot was locked with no key. I found one that fitted and was delighted to find a timewarp boot - spotless trim; original (?) Pirelli tyre; tool roll, etc. Which is nice!
Front and rear screens are tinted, but side windows aren't. Was that usual?
Rear suspension has a cross member thing that I'm not familiar with. Is that common to all 2.2s?

Blue car has some nice bits that I can use. Shell looks better than first impressions suggest.

The fabric interior of the other car shown in the photos doesn't look that good close up. Useable, but not worth travelling for, in my opinion.

The 4th car was squashed behind the blue one and hard to get to so I didn't examine it. What I could see didn't look any better than the others.

There was also a Series III Land Rover Station Wagon which my friend is collecting as we speak.

No.
&
Yes.

I just cleaned off some more dust and I was mistaken, it's only the front screen that's tinted.

That's far more common as the fronts get damaged and changed for whatever is available at the time.

Thanks for that, it'll save me a long and expensive drive down there. It looks in pretty good nick on those photos. They (photos) can be so deceiving. It's the same interior as the one in my car anyway, so I may as well stick to the one I've got for now :)

Cheers, Will.

After a mammoth strip down of the 2.2TC, the shell went to the scrapper yesterday - only 800Kg left, which shows how much I removed!
Then I headed straight over and collected up the blue, K reg 2000SC. This can sit on my trailer for a few days, so if anyone needs any parts, feel free to ask away. I'l post some photos later if I have a minute.

There were still two remaining cars, 2000SCs, but I doubt if they'll be there for long. I had my first look at the 4th car which had been obstucted by the blue one. It's no better than the others. Black leather interior with split front seat bases. The rear seats and door cards look excellent. Right hand rear wing is the only possibly useable panel - and that has some surface rust.
If, like me, you're close enough to take one whole, it would yield some good backup spares like drive shafts and bits of decent trim, but little of sufficient value to warrant a long trip.

Interestingly, as all the cars had been stored in a barn, their door cards had all survived without warping from damp. They all looked healthy around the D posts/rear wheel arches too. There was plenty of rust, but it wasn't in the places more common to cars that have lived outside.

Pretty sight isn't it! Up close, it's not actually that bad. At a pinch, all the doors except the passenger side front could be rubbed down and reused. What I've seen of the base unit looks quite solid too - just the usual rot along the underside of the sills. But of course when you add up the costs it would never be a viable restoration project. Though if anyone wants to try, let me know quickly. Under the bonnet is horrid - everything dried out and covered in surface rust. The engine won't turn at all when tried by hand.

The rear seats are better than the ones in my everyday P6, so I'll be using them along with the door cards which are nice and unwarped. The front seats have been eaten by something with small sharp teeth. Headlining is absolutely perfect if anyone needs one (though I wouldn't fancy removing it). I don't have an immediate use for any other bits and don't have space to keep it so I'll just remove useful stuff like driveshafts, steering box, etc. and will have to weigh in the remains.

Thanks Nick.
Unfortunately the other 2 will probably go straight to scrap, as did a 5th one he hadn't mentioned as it was even further gone. He also has a 1930's Wolseley 6 cylinder which is about to go the same way as there's no interest via the club or anywhere else. It's too much of a basket case for restoration and too far away for most people to collect for spares. Still, we can't save 'em all.
