4deg ATDC Timing

Hello. First technical question from returning member after 10 year gap and 5500miles difference in location. I have a Federal 2000TC with the timing set at 4degrees ATDC. This was done to meet air quality regulations, which now are not applicable to this old car.

Is it worth getting hold of a standard distributor and resetting to 6degrees BTDC. What are the benefits? I am having trouble getting a smooth idle and am wondering if this would help.......thanks to anyone for comments

PS. I juice the car up with a 50:50 blend of 91 and 100 octane (US standard octane rating: R+M/2)
