On ebay tonight I am listing mt Tremec 5 speed and rebuilt 3.5.
Well, here is an unusual combination for you. A rebuilt Rover 3.5 V8 with a Ford Mustang T45 Tremec 5 speed. Selling the whole lot as one.

As many people know, the SD1 box is OK, but will not handle over 400 bhp out of the box.
Well, I needed to change to a manual for my project so bought the Tremec.
The engine is rebuilt, new bearings, cam, followers, etc. Has new alternator and header type flanges and gaskets, oil filter etc. Put oil in and shes ready to run, although I have never started it yet. I rebuilt 3 V8's but only used 2, which have been started. You can have a listen on utube, look for, "Rover V16, first engine start."

Anyway, now the exciting bit, the Tremec.

The Rover takes a 10.5 inch clutch plate as does the Mustang, so there is a new plate in there. Then I bought a Rover auto bellhousing and cut it at the correct height ( 4 1/4 inched ) to marry up with the cut down Tremec. That cut or join need welding with a TIG - I dont have one, so thats still to be done. Also 2 more jobs. The Tremec often suffer from a broken 3rd gear selector - over enthusiastic downchanging breaks the shoulder off the selector, as can be seen in one of the photos. I took the box apart in order to check out what part was needed. I can confirm that the gears inside are better than perfection. All that is needed is the new selector fitting.

In another photo you can see the release bearing slide. I did not want a lever clutch release , much better to have a hydraulic one, which last time I looked, were being sold for about 30 quid.

So, lets get this clear, a hydraulic bearing is need, 30 mins with a TIG welder is needed and the new selector has to be fitted - there is a demo video on utube of how to do it - quite simple and straight forwards.

Now, you might be wondering why I chose such a strong gearbox to go behind a low power V8. Well, thats not how it started. Itwwas going to go behind a 3.9 with a turbo. But then I found a 5.0 Stroker, which I am using. But the Tremec will not fit between the chassis rails of the car, and I did not want to alter the chassis, so have used a different gearbox thats fitted in without any chassis cutting.

I guess somebody will buy this and then put the Tremec behind something more powerful - maybe a 4.6 or whatever.

I want the whole lot sold because its a bit in the way and I have 4 other cars on the go and only one pair of hands.

If needed I will help by providing a pallet and getting it all loaded for collection.

Any questions, please shout. Many thanks.

I am going to let the auction run, to be fair to everyone.
