A Dilemma

The car I bought a few months ago is badged up as a 3500S but a bit of digging I have found out it was originally a 3500 in Tobacco leaf ,but has at some time been resprayed (not too well ) scarab blue ,now a few of the badges are missing ,so I am wondering should I stick on some 3500S badges (as it has been converted to a 5 speed manual ) or do I badge her up as nature intended ,a 3500 ??

any thoughts welcome :)

cheers

Adam :)

i'd say personal preference rules here.

The baseunit is different between a manual and an auto, in terms of transmission tunnel width, so i'm guessing that's the only real difference?

Yes, the base unit was originally an auto ,I checked the number in the boot ,but at some point in its life she was converted into a manual ,it is just a cosmetic issue really but part of me thinks she should be badged up as a 3500

What harm can it be to badge it as a 3500S.

If you were selling it and hiding it's past then yes questionable. But your not.

IMO, in your own ownership, badge it as you feel happiest.

I had the same dilemma when badging Sparky as he was originally a 3500, but now has the SD1 5 speed manual box.

As he also has a 4L engine I opted for some 4000S badges.

I know where you're coming from though, the purists out there (and myself to some extent) looking at my car and just knowing that is isn't actually a 3500S. You just need to go with what you're happy with, it's your car after all.

As an "s" owner I would also badge it as you wish, as said earlier when selling then it was a 3500 auto converted to 5 speed manual.

I'm jumping on the badge how you want it wagon  it makes no diference until you ever come to selling it then you will need to come clean so to speak
