The sun shone on us yesterday, Wednesday 3 August, at Classics on the Green at Croxley Green. Gosh it was hot. Despite finding the Artichoke Inn closed when we arrived at the Common for lunch there everything went extremely well. We had both a marvellous afternoon and a wonderful evening.
Commencing with lunch at the Coach & Horses some 200 yards from the Artichoke and 100 yards from the show the food was excellent. At 2.40pm The P6s lined up and set off from the pub for the one minute drive to the show to grab a display area where we could all be together and which also allowed enough room for the othe rP6s joining us later in the day.
The first shift consisted of 9 P6s plus Brian Moss in his P4 at 3pm. Our convoy from the Coach and Horses had included a dark brown V8 with Westphalia plates belonging to, Albert Frensemeier, a charming gentleman who had driven over from Germany with his wife and daughter to join us for lunch and on the Green.
As the afternoon and evening passed by we were joined by a further 6 P6s making 15 in all. Guy only just made it not arriving till 8pm or was it 8.30pm. Several cars stayed until it got dark and left the show with headlights on.
In addition to our cars, by far the biggest club stand, were many other splendid classics of all types and makes. The whole Common was filled with these cars which must have numbered over a thousand in total.
Below are some photos of the P6s minus 3 who I somehow managed not to include. Apologies to them and their owners. Blame the 3 shift system!
I have followed these photos with some hopefully interesting photos of all the other older Rovers I spotted amongst the other classics on display. Quite a good number in all. I hope you enjoy looking at them.
Best Wishes
