Advance retard

Just realised why my v8 doesn’t get up and go. The advance is not working. I’ve blown down a tube and nothing moving. Has something come a drift ?

Vacuum advance is an economy device, it's not for performance. You need to check the mechanical advance.

Nothing happens when I blow through a tube I think it tries.

Suck blow nothing happening. Just checked

Best way to check is to hook up a timing strobe light and rev the engine. If the timing advances when revved you know the advance mechanism is working. If you suck on the pipe while it’s idling and you see it change then you know the vacuum diaphragm is working too.
