Aftermarket Motalits style steering wheel

Does anybody know of a wooden steering wheel manufacturer that makes a motalita style wheel that accepts the 3500S black circular steering wheel badge? Moalita make a wheel that is lovely, but it will not accept the original badge, whic I want to keep. I have seen wooden rimmed wheels with the original badge, but dont know where to source.
 
How about this early wood rim slightly dished 14" moto-lita!!
Or a 13" leather one!!!
Whatever you go for make sure it is a dished wheel!!
I have fitted,glued on a p5 steering wheel badge in the middle!
The 3D rover shield,ship,head emblem,as the std P63500 auto badge is boring!
The 3500S badge can be made to fit with a little backing plate and glue!!
Just dont use the super strong stuff,so its easy to pop off if you need to take the wheel off at any point!
I dont think you will find a wheel that you can just fit the existing badge and its mount to! You will have to adapt it!!
Moto-lita do,make a wheel with a smaller centre and boss but they look too small to fit the 3500S badge to!!
If you get one with a horn push like the TR6 one,!!! You maybe able to remove the hornpush middle bit and stick the 3500S badge in there instead!!
I got the 14" wood wheel off ebay for £25, and by pure coincidence/luck! :) I bought a new boss for £15 from Ebay the next day!!!
The leather one in the TR6 was £10 from an autojumble with the boss and badge!!! Bargain!!

Hiya.
If you get the center with the horn push as on my TR6's wheel,then all you have to do is remove the horn push section,and everso slightly make your 3500S badge a little smaller diameter to fit!
A little glue will hold it in place,the whole assembly is then easy to remove if you want to take the wheel off!!
If you have the non horn push type center,cut out the center just big enough to insert and fix the 3500S badge,leaving the outer push into boss fixing section in place!!

Thats the new version of the early original one ive got in my car!
Compared to the many jobs you have done on your car,fitting twin plenum engine, wiring in the icelert,doing the suspension,etc!!
This will be a piece of PI##!!!
You will get a solid center cap with the p6 boss,all you have to do is turn the cap over,cut the middle section out and insert and glue in your 3500S badge!

Many thanks, ill order one .... I have hunted high and low for a leather bound "S" wheel with ally spokes like mine, but to no avail. Wood wheel it is then it seems.
 
Sure ive seen one with a thinner leather rim???
Basically same overall size as the wood but leatherbound!!
They will make to your spec as well!!
Give them a call!!!
I did last year when researching early wheels,and I got the boss ring me for a chat and some free advice!!

Aren't the ones with leather on the spokes the same underneath the leather covering ?

I bought one years ago at Detling for £1 , then a neighbour's father who owed me a favour charged me £50 to re-cover the rim

Wasn't amused at the time but it still looks good
 
Contact you local stables and ask who their local saddle repair/maker is!
They often love doing something different,and do a good job,as ive seen on a mates old 50's Ford wheel!
