Air Conditioning - Getting the kit and getting it fitted

Hi everyone,

My 3500S is gradually getting more and more sorted, and consequently I can drive it more and more :)

The one lack it has over my 820 is air conditioning - once you've got used to it, it's hard to drive a car without it.

Especially the P6 - once the old girl gets going, the cabin gets flooded with lovely hot air from the engine.

The fans aren't up to much, which makes it a lot worse. Even with open windows, your legs are still burning away.

So, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either an aftermarket air conditioning system, or else retro-fitting an original P6 air con system to a car.

Any ideas, thoughts or experiences?

Many thanks,
TOM

hi,
don't know of any after market ones, but the air-con system that was fitted to them from the factory are few and far between in this country ( although i have owned three ) one of the systems was taken out by myself from a very rotten base unit and put into my own car a copy of the american NADA cars. ( see picture in gallery terry's toy ) so first of all you will need to find such a car or i know a guy in the states who has several NADA's he is breaking. :D

Thanks for that. I don't suppose you have contact details for this guy in the US scrapping NADAs?

Cheers,
TOM

Kingsdown garages (just outside OXFORD) have a complete aircon kit (their no is in classic car parts mag).

I remember an article in an old P6 news which featured a P6 in Malta with an aircon unit mounted on the back parcel shelf - there may be an after market system that will fit - fitting the original and maintaining is a bit of a chore!
