Alternator belt tension adjustment

Dear Forum,

Is the adjustment for the alternator/water pump belt tension sited behind the water pump pulley or is it set at the alternator itself, please?

I hope this question makes sense?

Hi Ray,

On the alternator and the attached sliding bracket. The point to measure the deflection in the belt is approx half way between the alternator pulley and the crankshaft pulley.

Thanks Ron, just to clarify, is the slot that provides the 'slide' part of the sliding bracket tightened with the bolt behind the water pump, or should this slot be situated at the other end of the bracket, i.e. at the alternator end of the bracket, please?

Best,

Ray

Morning Ray.
Its been a while since I looked under the bonnet of a 2000/2200,but I seem to remember that it will only fit one way round as it fouls up!
I think the small hole is on the alt and the long adjuster bit on the engine end!
Whichever way it should be,you only have 2 choices as the other 2 mounting points are the pivot points!!!

Morning Pilkie,

Thank you and that is a lovely looking TR6 you have there!

Best,

Ray

Thanks.
Its in need of a little TLC,as its been a bit neglected most of this year due to my medical problem and doing the S1V8!
Nothing a couple of weeks deep cleaning and dedicated tinkering cant sort out!
Also need to get the bonnet and boot repainted!
