Hi all,
I changed the alternator on my '73 2000sc (3 pin miltiplug type - 2 large and one small spade connections) for a second hand one yesterday. (Allegedly known to be good)
My old one was permanently showing the charge light so I assumed 'New one required'
Fitted replacement. No charge light at all engine on or off!
Then the engine stopped and wouldn't restart (coincidence as I changed all the ignition components - running fine again)
With ignition on, meter on the first large pin and earth, on the alternator shows battery voltage - no ign lamp
With engine running, meter on second large pin and earth, show the same as the battery voltage - no ign lamp
So, before I fit a brand new unit from the local factor (Hella CA18H?) is this unit shot as well?
OR do I have 6ra's 4ra's and stuff which I know nothing about?
Please help..... I'm totally depressed, confused and fed up now!
Jim
