Am I over-reving my engine

Hello again Guys, My p6 is an1971 2000 auto, Not having driven an auto before, I feel that I am needing to over -rev the engine to achieve forward motion and after braking ,to get moving again it seems to require excessive revs to regain speed! IS IT ME OR IS THIS WHAT AN AUTO IS LIKE ?? If it was a manual , I would say that it feels like the clutch is slipping at times!!

Have you checked the oil level in the gearbox? Use Harvey's guide in the 'sticky' in the gearbox section.

Also check the kickdown cable is correctly set, and the throttle bush is in good condition.

Thanksfor the advice, I have had look at the method that Harvey recomends, I will do those checks and see where we get !!

Thanks for your reply, I have been advised to use your method of checks and adjustments by another member, I will endeavour to do the checks and re-evaluate the situation afterwards !!
