Hello from Perth Western Australia. I have just purchased a 1976 P6B. I've never had a Rover before although I worked for New Zealand Motor Corporation, in the national parts division for a very long time. Now retired and living in Australia I need a project to keep me out of trouble. I have yet to see the car I have bought as it is in Victoria some 3045 km away. A very good friend, who is a BL trained mechanic did an inspection before any money changed hands. There are a few things that will need to be sorted before it can be registered here. The car is in good condition engine and body wise, brakes need some attention before it can go on a truck to be delivered but that will be sorted in the next two or three weeks. I'm looking forward to the cars arrival in Perth.

Thanks for the welcome. No photos as yet rockdemon but I hope to get some sent to me before it leaves my friends place. It is NZ assembled car in Pimento with tan interior.

Thanks Graeme, Really looking forward to getting the car to Perth and registered. Good to have a Kiwi car as well after all the years working in the P & A division of NZMC.

Welcome aboard Bruce, look forward to photos, and any info and advice we can help you with, I'm in Spearwood btw.
Regards,
Scott

Thanks for the greetings Scott, I'm in Ellenbrook so not so far away from you. I'm sure I will be asking for advice as I start to sort out the car.

Mmmm Perth - Lovely Place . Best beaches in OZ. Possibly the best city too.
My P6 knows Perth very well .
Left the Faulls showroom in Subiaco [ Hay St - I think] and went north to the Hammersley range in '72. She spent a year in WA before moving to NZ. She has been to all the beaches and loved cruising Kings Park .
Quite a good P6 fraternity in Perth I hear.
There was a member on here a while back that used to work the P6 production line in Solihull. He also now lives in Perth . Interesting bloke . Haven't heard from him on here in a while. Hope you may bump into him . You'd have a lot to chat about.
Get those pics to us .

Thanks Gerald, Have to agree with you that this is a beautiful place to live 38ºc yesterday and ideal cruising weather. I understand that there are a good number of P6 and P5 Rovers around the area and I'm looking forward to getting out amongst them.

Welcome to the forum Bruce :)

Owning a Rover can be an experience  and this is the best place to source information when the time arises.

Happy Rovering,
Ron.

Thanks for the welcome Ron, I'm sure there will be a lot of questions before the car is finished, if they ever are.The first job will be to get it over the pits and then registered, as a lot of the required work is cosmetic it can be done once it is legal.

500 Hay Street, Subiaco, to be exact,

Actually I noticed on the Faulls plate attached in the engine bay of my '74 has 498 Hay Street, so they started out small

I'll check my '76 doner see if they moved/expanded to 500 by then.

Piece of useless info for you . Who knows where it may lead.
This is how old I am.
The head salesman at Faulls was a lovely man by the name Julian Barber . He talked me through the process of ordering a new P6 from Solihull under the duty free scheme back in the good old days.
Still has the Faulls-Rover plate attached to the slam panel.
Yes I did order Almond , and I would do so again.

After many delays my car finally arrived from Victoria, via Adelaide today. Now the work starts as there is a lot to do but I'm sure I will have good moments and some where my patience will be tested. We have no idea how long the car has been off the road for, and the first job is to overhaul the braking system. While in Adelaide at the transport yard it popped a rear calliper seal, which was one of the delays as it needed working brakes to be loaded onto the train. Then on arrival here the battery was flat so an emergency trip to get a replacement was made, fitted and the car started. Just need some warm weather to get to work.

got my brake master cyl, slave cyl, rear caliper (except the proper dust cover seal) and booster seals from Perth Brake Parts, they didn't do a kit as such so had to match them up, but I did notice they had a complete booster on the shelf when I walked in (thought it looked familiar) can't remember the price on it, it was a while ago now. oh, and brake hoses made up to those I brought in with me. I see full front and rear caliper kits can be sourced from UK, Hear, hear on the warm weather!!
