anti rattle spring locking tab

When reassembling the brakes on the rear I am struggling to hold the locking tab in place along with the anti rattle spring etc - it all seems to want to turn on itself - am I tightening it too much or is there another sensible way to get the stud tightened and comfortably secure without relying on the locking tab/ washer? :?

cheers

Hello lunarboy,

The locking tab has three small tags on it,..two at one end and one at the other. The single tag points downwards over the retaining plate thus preventing rotation whilst being tightned.

The anti rattle spring also features a small lip along the top edge for the same purpose.

When turning in the bolt, hold the anti rattle spring until the nut is nipped up, and then tighten accordingly. Once the two tags on the locking tab are turned up, the bolt will not come loose.

Ron.
