auto trans oil cooler pipes

I'm soon to fit an auto transmission oil cooler to my P6B and was wondering if anyone can enlighten me which pipe is the flow (pressure side) into the radiator (at the radiator) the top one or the lower one,
Regards,
Scott

It doesn't make any difference, but on the car the rear pipe on the box is the return, which runs above the front one which is the supply to the cooler, and so if they stay the same way up to the rad then it goes in the bottom fitting, and out of the top, but as I said it actually make no difference. That's the orientation of the pipes on a 35 box, 65 may run differently as the cooler fittings are on the other side of the box, (rear is still the return though) but the same applies. Both the feed and the return are running at the same pressure, it can't lose pressure just running through the cooler.

thanks Harvey, I should have mentioned mines a 65 box, as you say it shouldnt matter pressure wise, just wondering how best to plumb up/position an external cooler so as to avoid any air locks, but i suppose they will fill up under pressure and self bleed any air in the system anyhow.

It's all pumped through the cooler, the pump in the box supplies the converter, and the outlet from the converter goes directly to the cooler from there, so no air locks. Separate coolers are a good idea IMHO as they get rid of the possibility of cross contamination between the coolant and transmission fluids.
