Autobox thump going into reverse/drive.

Thanks John

I've reset my idle (the wife claims I should know all about idle ?!), and hey presto a mild "kerchunk" when going between reverse and drive, instead of a thud that made the whole car shake !. Who would have thought 2-300 rpm would have made such a difference.
In a way I'm amazed a engine can idle so low and not judder to a halt, never mind not stalling when pulling away. Must be those 8 pistons and 3.5L that does it, beats a Mini engine every time !

Ron, the wacking great flywheel and clutch, or in our cases torque converter, certainly helps as well. (Have you tried to pick up one of these?)
Glad it's solved your problem and so simply.
Regards, John.
