If you like it, buy it!! Best to have a look first. It has been standing. Imagine the cost of recon calipers all round, welding to the cills, a set of carpets, paintwork, new rubbers all round and on and on and on.
I spent well over £7k on my car, which had stood since 1986. Ok I had a lot of other things done like a TP engine, custom manifolds/exhaust, custom springs/shock and alloys, but bar that, all other stuff done was standard P6 resto territary.
If it were a case of dust off, run for an MOT and sell for £2K, then why has he not done it!!
Why not buy a decent Series 2 "S", solid but needing paint, with a good set of leather trim and a good engine and box and have it painted avacado!! Imagine on your drive a rock solid, rot free base united car, with an excellent set of boxpleat leather and a fresh coat of avacado!!
I would have to say, done right, with the right tweaks (black sills and black vinyl roof), lowered slightly with a set of Rostyles or Minilites and a really good set of trim (black boxpleat leather and custom dark olive carpets) --- now were talking ---- why not go a bit further and throw the old boris of a V8 away and put in a low mileage 1990's unleaded 3.9 Range Rover lump in it
:That car would drive better than any other P6 you have ever had and stand out well and truely from the croud!! Go
I love Avacado ---- what about Saffron for the NZ market, that is a blinding colour on a P6 too. Blue, white, red etc all too boring. Make a statement. Vivid bright colours suit the car to complememnt its curves and bright 1970's colours are so in keeping.
