Hi all,
this is probably a really stupid question, but having got myself kitted out with a MIG and compressor to begin resto of my P6, where do I get sheets of steel to make repair patches?
Thanks
Nick
P.S. I live in Ipswich so anyone local who can offer some help would be greatly appreciated!

one of these should be able to help you

I recently bought a 8'*4' sheet of 18gauge from a local steel stockholder for £29 which I thought was a good price, you may even get it cheaper.

Failing that, most places that sell body panels usually sell small sheets of steel too.

Will do, got rear wheel arch repairs to make - am sure you're not supposed to be able to see the road wheel from the boot!!
At least the D posts were done professionally last year.

When you get the steel see if they sell fire extinguishers too. They dont do much, but the Fire Brigade take a far kindlyer approach if they see one lying near the welder. Not talking from experience in any at all. Ho hum...

and also wear a hat if you have long hair, cos it smells bad and takes ages to grow back after you set fire to it, Not that my longhair ever caught fire while I was gas welding, honnest, you can trust me I used to sell used cars ???

can anyone tell me if i can buy a floor pan external for the rear driver side were the arch meets the sill if you imagine the floor is in 4 quarters it would be the back d/s quarter underneath small hole got bigger when i hit it with hammer

Would be very useful - am finding hard to motivate myself to start, haven't even got round to taking out the fuel tank yet - too cold!
