Base Unit to Diff flexi

Can anyone tell me if this pipe looks the right sort of length?

I have the diff back in the car now and the pipe looks excessively long, the diff can only move on the diff hanger rubbers relative to the base unit. Trying to 'lose' the excess length would involve a sharp bend to the nearside then a return with the pipe looking like it wants to run right across the box section . I can't remember what the original was like.

That looks way too long to me. Like you say the diff doesn't really move far on the mountings, and other than that there's only the movement caused by the caliper swinging to account for. The original certainly wasn't like that.

PS Those pad slipper pads are fitted incorrectly. And the shims are wrong as well. (Even though you probably copied the WM, sadly the WM is wrong).

Hi Harvey
I thought that pipe was too long, I need to speak to the supplier.

I meant to ask about those pad keeper spring things. When I disassembled they where mounted at the rear. But in the rover manual they are shown at the front which is why I fitted them at the front.is that incorrect ?

The pad shims and plates are just screwed in so they don't get lost so they may not be correct.

The WM is wrong, but IIRC the parts manual illustration is correct, as are the diagrams in the fitting instructions that come with genuine Girling pads. The shim goes at the front, and the spring that goes against the outer pad goes at the rear.
