Black headlining???

Hi All,

Pretty new to P6 ownership (about 2 months now). I'm planning to do quite a lot of work to the interior of my Series 2 2000 SC, including replacing the headlining.

I've been looking at parts for a while now and just what to make sure I'm not looking for something that doesn't exist! Can you get black headlining for these??? It's just the standard car (no sunroof).

Any suggestions of suppliers would be very welcome too.

Cheers!

No. All P6s had a creamy coloured headlining except for the VIP which was brown (I think) and the Triplex roof cars which had a black zip in one.

I dont think i've ever had a car with black headlining, even when the car was black? (certainly my black ford orion didnt, although i cant remember what colour the headlining was in my black manta?)

My last car before the P6 was a mk3 cortina, it had black fur stuck on top of the headling. Plus black fur covered door cards and a zebra fur dash top!! It was VERY hot in there during the summer months. I didn't do that to it though  it was like that when I bought it..honestly

The two non standard options referred to are vanishingly rare, so don't expect to find any! The standard headlining is vinyl, so I imagine it would recolour with a kit from the likes of Woolies.

Sounds like you might be contemplating some sort of sleeper? We like to hear about things like that!

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum, as already said no black headlining but can be painted black with a can of vinyl paint, if you can some pics please :)

Re: Re: Floppy Auto Gearbox Shift Knob

My auto selector Knob has gone all floppy on its shaft - OK Guys this is not a mans health forum problem question
The shift knob is so loose I have lost the contact with the gate between drive /reverse / park
If I push down on the shift knob , I engage the gates as it rises above the detent shaft .
Obviously the rubber grommet between the knob and shaft has deteriorated over 30yrs and basicaly melted away .Bits of rubber have been falling off for years and finally the unit is now free moving through the gates .
Are these available ? I cant see any listings on "other" related sites
Has anyone used some other way of holding the selector knob stable
One will magically appear on ebay I guess

The front edge panel of mine it's now black, something we tried to smarten it up with.
Now the a pillars & front of roof lining blend in nicely.

I don't think I'd do the whole thing in mine, as with black upholstery it would get a little oppressive.

Thanks everyone - probably should stop looking for a black one then!

Some pictures will be forthcoming. Got quite a lot to do before I want to show it off!!!

Now then, now then! We like pictures of them in bits, pictures of them with holes in, pictures of them with no paint, pictures of them with their engines in bits...

No need to feel ashamed, we'll all be fascinated and supportive to see your progress!

Chris
