Blonde Moment

Having got the engine running well on my '76 2200 SC now having replaced the mains and big ends, I thought I'd do a bit of tidying up under the bonnet. The windscreen washers had been electrically disconnected ( wires cut off ) On further inspection I found the washer bottle had a hole in its bottom ! Need washers working to get a W O F (your MOT ) How its last owner got it through I don't know but it wouldn't pass here.
Went through my bits and pieces and found a Triumph one that would fit with a bit of modding.
Fitted it and connected to the nearest live source...the + side of the coil. It worked sort of but water just piddled out. When I started the engine the washer motor went a bit quicker, Thinking voltage drop but a bit puzzling as the thing wouldn't draw much current I thought.
I came to me in the middle of the night....I connected it to the ballasted feed so probably only getting 9 volts ........I will correct it in the weekend.
