Bonnet badges

I don't have one as I don't need one, however I have seen a couple of them and they look first class!

Here is a bit of a refresh on the History of them and the associated link to an earlier thread on the US made item.

Looks like a bargain !

It says in the write up description at the bottom that it's an enamelled badge.

Yeah thats what made me look closer at the photos and a bit of a WTF moment when thay already had the perfect USA one rights, you will also note it says made in the UK which really had suspicions raised furthur.

For those of you who like to be hands on here is an excellent video on how you could make the plastic insert for the badge in high detail with correct internal and external profiling, seems like an easy process.
The internal painted finish just needs the correct colours and a steady hand.

The external metal work shouldnt be too hard, just getting the external rolled edge correct would be the hard part.

Easy to do, quite a bit harder to do really well. That’s was my experience making resin casts for models. The biggest challenge was needing a perfect part to take the mold from, the silicone rubber reproduces every scratch & mar on the finish. I even captured my fingerprint once.

Yes getting a perfect blank OEM to make a mold from seems to be the hardest part to get, unfortunatly mine is really trashed, plastic has physically disentigrated and fallen apart.
