Bonnet gone

Oooooo, not good.

My brother did that with his Nissan primera when we left the NEC car show, it opened up just as we were about to join the motorway!, the bonnet was " L " shaped as it went right up over the roof. Scary stuff.

Feeling for you bud :? , lovely P6 by the way.

Oooh Ouch !
Back in the day when I hung out with the Daimler SP250 boys , a friend at the time , got a crack on the head when his bonnet came up and broke in half over the top of the windscreen . It would have happened quickly . I guess you are lucky !!
Lovely car by the way .

Oooh...ugly.
That happened to a Valiant ute in which I was a hitchhiking passenger once...peeled up and over the roof...scary, as the road was completely blocked from view.

My Mini did that to me at a hundred-and-plenty kph. TWICE!!
Fortunately, it never smashed the 'screen but it did ensure the bonnet was never the same again after that.
It gets interesting having to switch your driving reference to out your window while you frantically try
to remember whether there was any conflicting traffic in the slow lane for you to move over ASAP...

Ooof. Comiserations. Coulda been way worse though. I did the same just the other week, but fortunately noticed the bonnet bobbing up and down a bit before I'd got far, or given it any welly. Pulled up sharp and expressed thanks to the Norse gods, or something. Hope you get a good bonnet and paint match, nice car that.

Oh nasty, sorry to see that, hope you get it sorted soon. A few months ago I bought a Mk3 Cortina, and on my way back down the M5, I noticed the bonnet had started to dance a little, so I pulled over and looked at it, and not before time! The spring catch that is screwed to the bonnet and engages on the top of the radiator support panel had come loose, and was still attached to the radiator panel, but not the bonnet. It was only a matter of time before it had caught enough air and I would have had the same predicament as you have. Reading the comments on here, it seems to be all too common an occurrence.
