Boot badge for spare wheel mount

My car has the boot mounted spare but I'm wanting to return it to inside the boot. I've never been fond of the look. Anyone know where you can get the badge that fills the hole. It's a bit special I understand and I'm getting thd feeling quite rare.

Hi Richard,
The badges are on ebay from time to time in all conditions, try wins international they may have one.
New old stock do turn up at times but are not cheap, sometimes 3 figures!
Good luck,
Clive.

They come up as brand new items (not old stock) as the have been manufactured in recent years both for front and rear badges however you would need to check with those suppliers, a search on the forums past posts should provide you details as there have been threads about it in the last couple of years.

Hi Graeme,
I know they used to reproduce bonnet badges and inserts for boot badge but never seen a completely remade boot badge.
A friend of mine who was great on metal turning made me a badge out of stainless steel, swapped him some new series 2 door handles for it.

Clive.

It is obvious when you know but confusing.

Does your clamp have a badge in it? With the clamp removed turn the clamp upside down and twist the badge which should release.

It is obvious but worth mentioning as I have had this conversation with quite a few p6 owners over the years.

If you dont have the badge you will see the recess and the bayont fitting on the clamp as per the boot lid.

Im not sure what you mean but I will have look and see. I don't think my car originally had the boot mounted spare I think someone has fitted it since

It will make sense if you look at it.

This write up may help. I can't put my hand on the parts at the moment

The badge can be fitted to the boot lid when the spare is inside or stored on the clamp/knurled wheel as per the write up.

If your wheel is currently on the bootlid take off the cover and if you have a chrome badge inside then you have the badge you need. If the knurled wheel has a bare aluminium the baddge is missing.

clamp with badge fitted.

badge and bootlid fitting

You will see that the chrome badge is a bayonet fitting.

so if you have the badge in the clamp, just turn it upside down and twist it.

That should make more sense when you have the parts in your hands.

It does make sense thankyou. But I still don't have one ☺ shame but never mind. I see you can get the badge off eBay for £40 but not the bayonet holder.

Ok so I won the badge. Thanks Arthuy, my god did i have to pay for it though. Cant believe what I had to pay for a badge. Is that what they really go for or was I just stupid. Anyway got it now just better not tell the missus

Hmm, remind me to put the locking pin on mine. On my last car, this and the rear "V8" badge went walkies.
