Brake light coming on

Quite. Can't really see the point of speculating about other causes until this simple test has been carried out.
 
The handbrake switch was the culprit on one of mine (position adjustment) & the reservoir float on another. Both easy to check & easy to fix & far more likely than some crossover in the wiring circuit. As stated, it'll be best to carry out some simple tests on known causes before you start worrying about improbable faults in the loom that probably don't exist.
