Buttercups facelift ....

The early A/C cars also had quite a lot of the other NADA kit too, like the door beams and the rear mounted electric fuel pump. It's just possible they were seen as a prequel to the fuel injected cars....

Ok yesterday drove 12 junctions of M25 at speeds in excess of the norm  don't want to incriminate myself too much cough cough and the scoop worked very well indeed but realised that the bonnet was under tention so before heading back I lifted the bonnet and removed the thick rubber seal at the back and this had the desired affect off allowing the excess air under the bonnet to escape thus depending the pressure on the bonnet from underneath. Not sure if it feels more responsive or if I'm dreaming it but I don't suppose its doing any harm. And the silicon sealer water dispurcer is still intact after over an hour of high speed driving

I know what you mean by bonnet tension. I don't have any scoops or anything, but at motorway speeds with a strong headwind, the bonnet really bobbles up and down in front of you! I've checked the securing bolts and the location/integrity of the bonnet latch, and all is well. I think it's the ally flexing more than anything untoward.
I personally didn't want to remove the rubber seal on the scuttle panel because this would cause engine gases to enter the ventilation box. I also read somewhere that the high lip of the bonnet at the scuttle was designed to promote a high air pressure over the scuttle area to force air down into the ventilation inlet, which was unconventionally located to be as far away as possible from the exhaust level of other cars. So if anything, you may now be forcing air under the bonnet from the front and the back. Don't think it will make that much difference though, it's the gases I'd be worried about.

Well done btw, Buttercup looks great!

Ahh knew that it must have done something Michael, If I start smelling fumes I will put it back on, but I didn't notice the bonnet flexing before I added the scoop and I,m very observant especially traveling at speed.
Thanks for all your kind comments so far.....
I really like the look of the scoop from the drivers view but must say missing seeing the bonnet badge :|
Had a bit of a plonker on my travels yesterday in a BMW coupe took offence being overtaken by an old banger don't know what he was trying to prove by undertaking me and swerving in front of me sounded like he was not far from blowing his engine, good job I'm mild manored and don't play silly games while driving. He then turn off at the next junction may be something did go :?:

Thought I would share this shot I took on Sunday at the Gunpowder Mills....

Hopefully its not to big.... Definatley a new favourite pic of mine...

Thanks Grim, it has been a while, I had noticed you had gone missing, hopefully everything is sorted now I understand you've had a bit of grief :|

Yep, the workshop move has taken sooo much longer than planned with building work, wiring etc Just about done now and about to hand the keys back to our old unit :D
Cost a tad more than budgeted too  Anyway, just able to start work proper again after my few months holiday
Hope to be out and about again too

Thats good glad to hear it :D

Buttercup looks really excellent Guy, very aggressive with the bonnet scoop and the Vitesse alloys... :D

Have you noticed any performance improvement since installing the scoop allowing for cold air entry straight into the engine?

Thank you Ron,

I have noticed a quicker responce in acceleration and also an impressive increase in economy gaining on average an extra 3 miles per gallon.... And I tend not to hang around

Gee that is impressive Guy, more power and less fuel used. Just goes to show how significant cold air can make to the running of an engine.

hi,
i will think you will find paul atkinsons almond rover has had a scoop on it for as long as i can remember. the silicone selaer is fine, but a piece of ally bent and screwed through the bonnet would look far nicer. the proper ones are made from plastic and crack with age.
