Hi Does anyone have a spare BW 35 gearbox in the north west reigion they would be willing to let go to keep a car that I rescued from the scrap man. The car now holds a current mot after 8 years off the road and is taxed. I am willing to travel to collect. If you can help please let me know. Thank you in advance. Stephen

Thank you for your reply Harveyp6. I am afraid that I don't know the auto boxes very well so can only guess that the fault is probably the bands as the ATF is dirty ( turning brown ) hardly any pull in forward but a good reverse gear. I am thinking about taking the box out on Wednesday to assess the damage any advice would be welcome. Stephen

From your limited information, if the problem is with all forward gears it will be the front clutch, and although the lack of drive will be the friction plates worn, the underlying problem will be failure of the seal, and replacing that would be your only difficulty as it requires an installer. After the sump, valve block and front pump have been removed, the front clutch drum is the next part out.

Just a short update on my BW35 gearbox issues. After advice from Harveyp6 I decided to repair and rebuild my gearbox. I wish to thank Harveyp6 for all his help and support I now have my car running great and have a better understanding of the BW35 box. Thank you so much. Stephen
