BW35 vs ZF4HP22

Those are Retail prices (in Pounds Sterling), and subject to VAT (UK Tax) at 20% on top, plus shipping, and I would assume Duty at your end. Remember that to replace the clutch piston seals requires the use of two different special piston seal installing tools.

All the parts you would need can be purchased from: http://www.jpat.co.uk/

Presumeably it wil be much cheaper for Nick, being in NZ, to buy them from the US. Do you know of a US equivalent to jpat, Harvey?

Hi Harvey,

VAT is actually only paid by countries within the EU, so for Nick being in N.Z the price he pays is without VAT. I don't know about N.Z, but here in Australia provided the cost of the goods combined with the delivery fee does not exceed A$1000, then there is no duty to pay.

Ron.

As it happens, in the last couple of days I've bought my second 4HP22, an ex-Disco mechanical box to go with my BMW 5-series one. The Disco one has done galactic mileage, the BMW only 120,000kms (and been checked out by my tame mechanic) so it's going to be a swap of valve block, bell-housing, torque converter and flex plate on to the BMW box and then see where we go from there.

I'm intending to use the original selector (sacrificing manual selection of low), and at this stage purchase one of those Hall effect transducer boxes to drive the speedo cable. As for the whole job, at worst case it's a complete pig of an idea, and at best it's a bolt-it-in-and-drive-away piece of cake. The truth is bound to be somewhere in the middle, and since I've passed the point of no return (my BW35 is starting to die, and I've spent good money on 2 ZF boxes) I guess I'll just have to push on and see where the adventure takes me!

But don't hold your breath, fellow ZF-ers, my P6 is still MIA, and doesn't look like it's going to make it out of the paint shop any time very soon.
