Hi Glen,
Well worth doing...and the water pump plus a few more bits whilst you're at it.
This was my effort a few years ago which will give you an idea of what's involved. A long thread to wade through, but hopefully useful.

Don't forget to run the cam & followers in at the end...it feels absolutely the wrong thing to be doing those revs on a rebuilt top-end. But absolutely necessary!
