Can a battery be too strong??

Hi All,

Probably a silly question :oops:
Can a battery be too powerful for the Rover 3500 :?:
I have a new battery left over from the Mustang. It should fit the Rover size-wise but it has 620cca. Is that OK or too much for the starter etc. :?:

What the starter can draw is determined solely by its resistance. Usually this will exceecd the capacity of the battery to deliver, so the cranking speed drops away as the volts decline. A really big battery should be better for the starter cos the engine will start quicker with the quicker cranking, so the motor won't get so hot (product mainly of time spent cranking).
