Can I still be a member?

In a rash moment, it might be insanity, does it come from having various P6's for about 25 years or so, I've decided to get rid of my two complete 2000's and have a little bit of a change. (I cant afford all the garage rent).
The 1968 Yellow one should be in the DEC P6 News if I've got the advert in on time.
My new car was made in Japan, that is possibly a good enough reason for getting out the tar and feathers. but it does have nice chrome bumpers and the rear end does look a bit like a P6.
Please do a search for "Mitsuoka Galue", its the series one of 1996 vintage. Please let me know if I'm still allowed into the hallowed halls.
Thanks

Good luck with your new car... Bit bizarre looking, though. I reckon its one of those Marmite cars, you either love them or hate them. It'll certainly be a head turner, I'm sure not many people will know what the heck it is...

They make several "look alike" models i know of. Two come to mind. one looks like an old Mk II jag from the front, and another looks like a Roller ! I think they once showed them on Top Gear.

That is wrong!! Why? Still each to their own. It puts me in mind of something Vanesse Feltz would drive, or some middle aged hairdresser with an attraction to the same sex :? If you fancy something different, I have a 1960 Mk1 Mini for sale, rot free, rare car.

Similarly, for the money one of them Jap rollers/jags costs, you could buy a mint, restored 3500S. We all know £4K buys a real tidy one, neeeding no work. What about a Mk1 Escort, Mk2 Cortina, Series 1 MGBGT, again £4k buys a blinder and not a whiff of hairspray to be had, just oil and petrol and the Sweeney!

Phillip, be careful, buy one of them and they will stop calling you Phil Howard, it'll be Emily Howard

Yes the car seems to work ok. Turning a few heads in Dorset. The main comment I get is "What is it?"
The answer a Nissan Taxi seems to stun them.
The main thin is that it starts when you turn the key without resorting to Easystart. Now I have a Rover 2000 that is for sale.
1968 Left Hand Drive, 2000TC. Air Con, Rostyles, leather seats, Twin Servos. And it is in a pretty yellow shade (series 1). The engine turns but does not fire (loss of compression).
Seems a pitty to berak for parts. Any interest.

Do they still point at aeroplanes down there :D

Only kidding, I used to live in Dorset, and still have a company down there.

I am sure one of my customers is Philip Howard?

Do you sell rubber seals and stuff?

As to big metal birds in the sky, they do get pointed at still. It was a disapointment this year that The Vulcan was not able to fly over the town.
Would like to add a LHD 68 to your collection?
As to rubber I do buy sheets of it for the printing side of the business.

Don't you think Chop Shop is a load of rubbish ? How anyone could use 6" wheel spacers on a car is beyond me

Do they not have an engineering consultant ? It's just 2 big mouth/big heads seeing who can swear the most

Haven't seen many of them but I have wondered if the cars have to be inspected by the Ministry considering the major body changes carried out. And if they do, how does that fit into the 3 week time limits they set themselves? And is the original glass still used? It all seems a bit far-fetched. The Missus was hailed one day by a couple of the lads from the workshop when she was out in our P4. They asked if we wanted any spares from the one they were using to build Jools Holland's car. That day they were doing a bit of roofing funnily enough. I never got round to going over there.

Inspection tests on Imported Cars. Mitsuoka etc.
As the Car is a NON EU approved vehicle, it does not need to be examined my The Min as it over ten years of age, thats why all the imports are older cars, all that is needed is a declaration of age to get a UK Log book.
To make it road legal all it needs is to come up to MOT standards for a vehicle of the declared Build date.
Change of spedo from KPH to MPH, either a new front to a spedo or re calibrated to MPH.
Flares (Oversized Fireworks often seen in Ameican Films) in the passanger footwell to be removed, then more or less a normal MOT.
Have a look at other Mitsuoka designs that they make out of Nissans and the like - some good, some bad.
If only Rover had spent its time reworking Nissans etc instead of trying to compete with Ford and GM we might still have a British Co Rover.
Might be wotrh asking Mitsuoka if the could build us a modern P6.

As an aside, we always used to have Jools Holland visit our stall at the Enfield Pageant until we stopped having it a couple of years ago. Can't remember him ever buying anything though.
I still haven't seen the Jet 1 'Chop shop' but from what I've seen of it on the net it looks a beast. I wonder how it will weather the next few years assuming that Jools will actually put a few miles on it?

"I still haven't seen the Jet 1 'Chop shop' but from what I've seen of it on the net it looks a beast." - I'd put money on it being the biggest pile of cr*p on four wheels
