Carpet Colour Question

I am trying to match my worn carpet under driver's side. Everything else seems acceptable at this point. The colour is a golden tan with almost a tinge of yellow. Does anyone else have this? The only Rover carpets currently available are either Birch Grey or Mortlake Brown. Almost bought the Mortlake Brown, remembering I read somewhere it faded to tan. Looks too brown, could this be the correct colour for a '68 NADA 2000 TC? Thanks for your help, cheers!

I have a couple of nice early driver side carpets in the correct shade of faded Mortlake. The only drawback is that your car is presumably a LHD.
You could sew a heelmat to a U.K. passenger carpet to replace yours & again l do have a nice pair of carpets as well as the two driverside mats but l don't want to split a pair.
The drawback there being a big witness mark on your LHD passenger carpet from where the rubber heelmat once was. ;)

I believe all the NOS from Pierre is V8. I don't think the 4 cyl floor shape is the same.

TBH given the fading, you are better remaking a set. What sets these off is the bindings which can be salvaged from the old carpet. I've not seen this pattern elsewhere. That and the thick backing. although genuine wool the Rover carpet quality is only so-so.

Coverdale carpet Kensington Luxury Wool - Wheat - KWTL is very, very close. I have samples and held them up close. In the picture below it is pretty much central so you can see just how exact it is..... As you can see Martrim Beige is pretty good too... The faded originals are from a 1969 manufacturer V8. The Boyriven carpet is way, way higher quality than the others. Lovely but not a great colour match...

Worth noting the original, unfaded part is much "browner" (where the folded handbrake cut-out is) Richer, more "chocolatey". It appears the red colour is lost over time, probably mainly due to UV and the result is a biege which is towards the yellow/green side. It's a very, very odd colour.

The original carpet you see was wet-cleaned and dried before the picture was taken.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, LHD so would require a heelpad. I believe it is a faded Mortlake brown so a good match. I will do a better assessment of my carpets to see if I need the entire set. I appreciate your offer of assistance, the P6 is always there to get me through.

Hi Peter,
Thank you so much for providing me the samples of the different carpets, really helpful. Nice to see the faded Martrim beige. It is a close match but mine is almost a more yellowish-beige. I see the value of making a new carpet using the original binding but for now would probably opt for the Coverdale carpet if affordable as it looks attractive and would be a good candidate for complete replacement. Really appreciate you showing me all the options.

Meant to say P6 Community, really value all the assistance I've found here, thanks!

Turns out the passenger (your driver side) carpets aren't as good as l recall. One pair is the later weave & the dreaded moths have had a nibble on the older Wilton pair. So l would say they would do someone a turn rather than being worth the high shipping rates to get them to California. Sorry 'bout that.
