Choke light otter switch

The above switch is corroded beyond belief on Jimmy.
As a result it has come apart of course, leaving me with the hull stuck in the manifold... .
As I have the manifold out I have to try and get it out of there, even if I do not buy a replacement right away (How much should I pay?)

How much space is underneath the switch?
Can I drill into the bottom carefully to make an appropriate gap to stick in a screwdriver or so to try and turn and prise it?
Can I try and grip one of the three screw holes at a time to bend them inwards in order to make the stuck area smaller?
Should I try and solder something into the tube to try and get a grip of it?

What would you suggest :?: :?

DANKE SEHR!!

Hi Stefan,

There is not a great deal of distance between the base of the bowl and the inner surface of the manifold. They can be a real pain to remove, easily spending many not so enjoyable hours picking at it till it becomes free  You could use an appropriately sized cold chisel and pliers of different styles to assist you. Not sure on the cost of a new one, as the one that I used I had purchased some 20 years ago. Someone else on the forum will be able to advise on cost and where to purchase.

Ron.

Hi, you should think yourself lucky that the little screws haven't sheared off in the manifold.
The hull or shell that is left is only thin brass so as Ron says adopt whatever works for you,
but I just bend up the flange, drive a small screwdriver down between it and the manifold
and lever it in to crush the diameter and so release its grip, then help it out with pliers. A
new switch can be obtained here -

Long may your luck continue.

The first thing my wife said on hearing that was "Do we really need that?"

Had we not discovered that work is needed on the front suspension, I would have tackled this one for the sheer MANLY fun of it, spending a day with heavy machinery, torches and chisels and various self-made tools that look important and do - f***-all :D :!:

Being the only one on a Rallye whose screws did NOT shear off and who has managed to take out the old hull of the choke light otter switch would have given me ENORMOUS satisfaction :!:

Enough in fact to have the remnants of the hull - spectacularly bent and looking roasted, of course - mounted on the dash in red velvet 8)
The new switch would, of course, be the only part in the engine bay that is chromed, with a little diamond engraved in it and seperate lighting for display in the dark 8) 8)

EDIT:
I took it out last week 8)
It was quite unspectacular :?
It gave in after about ten minutes with a pair of pliers and a chisel to bend it to the middle and pull it out
