Choke

happy days

The choke on my 2000 will not stay pulled out, so it's a peg to keep it on.
What actually is the cure, new cable? Or something else.

Cheers

There is a spring clip on the outer cable behind the console that might have come adrift, but in most cases it's a new cable required.

You could try to put a smear of araldite on the inner part of the knob to get some friction.

Worth a try but obviously let it dry before letting it go to the off position.

If you want another "temp" fix use a clothes peg the non sprung type. Cut it down so the width is small enough to allow a little choke. When you need full or more part choke, just pull the knob and put the peg in at the end nearest the console.

New cables are quite cheap though so if you have the time go for that option.

If you bent slightly the inner shaft you will make it to stick just enough in its seath so that it would be possible to leave the choke in the position you wish.
Surelly a bodge, i know, but far better that the clothes' peg.
As others already said, the permanent solution is to change the cable. If it's an SC it's rather easy, in a TC, a little more complicated.
