When people think back to today's cars, what will be seen as menial rubbish, and what will be remembered as good?

Alfas are great drivers cars, but not so great as day to day transport.

VWs,Audis, and skoda/seat are so broing and slab sided it would be hard for anybody to remember them with affection surely.

BMWs are ugly but always brilliant to drive - might come into fashion eventually.

Maestros are nice cars - nicer than escorts of the age. Montegos are ugly but not bad cars either.

My dad had a marina which failed it's first MOT requiring welding to the chassis. They were basic cars - which is fine. I'm too young to know, but i can guess from this that they were basic and badly made...

Rich.

I liked my Montegos, one saloon and one estate and thought they looked great.

The Saloon was a 1.6 and was good, but basic, motoring. Cheap to buy and never let me down.

The Estate (an EFI - Extra Flipping Intricate) was a bit of a handful as no-one knew how to fix its many problems which eventually turned out to be an intermittent feed to the temperature thermistor.

I like my Audi too, not for its looks though 8)

I think coz the montego was such a late 3 box design it aged quickly. I remember liking them at the time...

I didn't like them but we used one for a year or so which my Father handed down to us. Despite doing nothing to it except putting petrol in, it absolutely never let us down except when I didn't put anti-freeze in (lack of interest) & it froze up, though it managed to get us to our friends house before it conked. We thawed it out, got another timing belt put on (the old one was worn flat) & off she went again. In the end my brother sold it to a mate with the proviso that he shouldn't service it, just drive it. His mate serviced it regardless & it promptly broke down.
