Cleaning Rags

Hi Luke,

I just bin mine 8)

If you wanted to clean them, to remove grease you really need a degreaser, and soak them in it. An alternative might be to soak them in washing detergent, such as Dynamo, then wash them out.

Ron.

I've used truckwash tfr in the past and been able to extend the life of cleaning rags. Also used avgas which works wonders and cleaning oil and grease off everything and anything, however not quite so readily available

Soak them in petrol, drain it off, let them dry and then a hot wash cycle with a goodly shot of detergent.
Add softener to personal taste....

Like Ron, if there are any bad dirt stains on cleaning cloths I bin them and buy some more. You can pick up a pack of microfibre cloths for buttons these days. If I'm degreasing I tend to use the ubiquitous blue roll to mop up after.

If you use the house machine, make sure the BOSS is either aware or away.

Wash the load twice and the second round cleans the machine nicely. Been there, done it.

BTW don't use fabric conditioner because it makes cloth less absorbent.

That's a top tip Peter :)

In fact, if you do wash them in the machine make sure you clean out the fabric conditioner tray as even the smallest amount of residual conditioner can get onto the cloths and make them less absorbent.
